THE OVAL REFLECTION

THE OVAL REFLECTION With the 5th test concluding...The most thrilling,nerve-wracking,testing,challenging and hard-fought series I ever witnessed came to an end. 7187 runs ... 172 wickets ... 21 centuries ...Captain Gill,KL,Jaddu,Siraj,Prasidh,Bumrah,Jaiswal&Sundar performing at their best...A Pant&Woakes Heroic...Stokes courage and Bazball... 25 days ... 73 sessions and 5 tests ... A series full of drama, thrill, emotions, courage&actions comes to an end .The following is a review of the Famous 5th test between India and England played at the Oval which India won by a sleak margin of 6 runs . BATTING:   Day 1 started with typical English overcast conditions,a very green pitch [which was seen first time this tour]& selection questions of no 4th pacer and playing just 3 pacers for India. ..amidst all India was put into bat on Day 1 which was filled with rain, clouds, swing and seam. India coming into bat faced the early blow of Jaiswal making just 2 falling once...

THE MANCHESTER RESURRECTION

The Manchester Resurrection This has been a series of fight and valour from the Indian team...despite many loopholes like retirement of 3 legends and Bumrah not playing all tests they still have fought till their last breath and the last day in each and every test so far ... This test was not any different. There were evident problems with the XI selection and the bowling but India still managed to avoid a series defeat and keep them alive for a crack at the decider by batting their hearts out for 5 sessions . Gill became the Indian captain and Asian Captain with most 100s on a tour to England[4*] and the Asian batter with most runs in a test series in England[722*] Rahul became the 2nd Indian opener after Sunil Gavaskar to score 500+ runs in an away test tour[511*] . It has been a series which could go on to settle the debate for The Greatest All-Rounder in cricket with England's Stokes taking more WICKETS in this series than Prime Bumrah [17>14] and Jadeja scoring...

CRICKET:A HEARTBREAKING YET BEAUTIFUL GAME.

CRICKET: A HEARTBREAKING YET BEAUTIFUL GAME After the 3rd test between India and England ... I was forced to realize that even if you are giving your absolute best and are on top of the game or in life,   small moments from the past and a little bit of less luck on your side can haunt you and bring you down. India being on top for 13/15 days of cricket played in this series, scoring a lot more aggregate runs than England in the 3 tests[2295>1945] , hitting 3 more individual 100s[8>5] and taking the same no. Of wickets[55] at a lower average[36.05<42.6] are still somehow 2-1 down in the series. It's ironic how everyone trolled the commentators for using the word 'Slope' a lot , but when Siraj Middled the ball off Bashir , he got bowled due to the SLOPE . This is the Review of the narrowest and most thrilling match of the Lords Cricket Ground [In terms of runs{22}] . BATTING: In the 1st innings , England started steadily with an opening partnership of 43 ...

THE CREATORS OF HISTORY: The 2nd TEST REVIEW

THE CREATORS OF HISTORY There's something about the Indian team that makes them thrive and bounce back the hardest whenever they are counted out, criticized, and considered the underdogs. Be it Gabba 2021 , Cape Town 2024 , Perth 2024 , or Edgbaston 2025 ... it seems like they have a habit of breaching fortresses . With the victory in the 2nd test at Edgbaston , India became the 1st Asian team to beat England at Edgbaston , and it was India's 1st victory ever at the ground . Shubman Gill becomes the 2nd Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to score a double hundred and a hundred in the same match and the 1st to score 200 and 150 in the same test match . He also scored a total of 430 runs in this match, which is the 2nd highest in a match ever . There were a lot of doubts over the team selection , but these questions were to be answered perfectly over the course of 5 days. A BATTER's PARADISE: It was a match where a total of 1673 runs were scored across 4 innings, making it ...

The Start of a New Era

The Start of a New Era A test match where a team scored a combined of 835 runs in both innings including 5 individual centuries and a 5-fer .... one would think it would be an easy victory for that team but this was not the case for the Indian team in the 1st test vs England at Headingly . One could solely point out and blame any one of the three departments for the loss but according to me it was a collective failure of all 3 departments in some way or the other . The Batting Issues: The 1st innings for India included 3 centurions [Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant] which was a great sign for the team on Day 1 .... but things changed on Day 2 when India were cruising on 430-3 targeting a massive 600-650 total and suddenly they were bundled out for 471 with a collapse of 41-7 where apart from the centurions the next highest scorer was KL Rahul with his 42 . The other batters and bottom 6 barely contributed despite the likes of a Jadeja , a Shardul ...

THE WTC PREVIEW

THE WTC PREVIEW South Africa will face its haunting past and history and wants to overcome the tag of 'chokers' associated with it for the longest time... Australia will come to the battleground with immense confidence , pride , and honor. .. PRIDE of being CHAMPIONS , PRIDE OF HAVING DONE IT BEFORE , and the belief of passing the South African huddle once again like they have done before a few times . While South Africa's qualification is being termed by many as a fluke , citing their path to the finals as a tad easier than that of the other teams, one should not forget their 7-match winning streak , which is yet to be broken . Australia citing to become back-to-back WTC champions have also had an interesting and challenging road to the finals ... whether it was the Thrilling and controversial 2023 ASHES SERIES or the massive 2024-25 BGT . VENUE: WTC for the 1st time in its history comes to the HOME OF CRICKET: THE LORDS CRICKET GROUND . While Australia retur...

The DC Review

The DC Review It was a season where DC experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in just 2 months. A season that gave the hope of ending an 18-year-old drought but did not fulfill it. The Start of a Supposed Fairytale: From Ashutosh's heroics to Starc's 5-fer , from Kuldeep's economical spells to KL's arrival , from Vipraj's all-round brilliance to Axar's leadership qualities .... the first 4 matches of DC had it all. The Start of DC's Downfall: The match against MI was a match where everything started going downhill for DC . They were in the front for 70% of the game but then a magical ball from Santner bowled the well-set Karun Nair on 89 and everything turned. That very moment turned MI's season for good but DC's season for the worst . This followed a massive collapse from 119-1 to 193 all out with an over to spare in a chase of 205. The collapse ended with a bizarre series of 3 run-outs back to back. From this match onw...

KKR:The Batting Fiasco

KKR:The Batting Fiasco In an era where having 9-10 batters with 5-6 proper bowlers in a team's playing XI is a luxury, this same thing is turning out to be a pure Debacle for the defending champions KKR. Something which proved to be a boon for CSK 2021. Batting Order Musical Chairs: Openers are the key to success for any batting unit but this has not been the case for KKR with their openers not even crossing 50+ partnership in even a single game. From Quinton De Kock to Rahmanullah Gurbaz , they tried them both where Sunil Narine remained the constant but all 3's form has been Hot and Cold . A bigger problem has been the batting positions of in-form batters like Angkrish Raghuvanshi and the entry points of the big guns Rinku , Russel and Ramandeep in combination with the failure of Vice Captain Venkatesh Iyer . The first instance which comes to my mind is from the match against LSG in Kolkata where KKR was enroute of a high run chase of 239 runs falling short of...

GT:THE BIG 3

GT:THE BIG 3  Since the start of this edition of the IPL,  Gujrat Titans has been a team who has been heavily dependent on its TOP3 for the bulk of its runs. They start slowly but consolidate at the end. Sai Sudharshan[509 runs] ,   Shubman Gill[508 runs]  and   Jos Buttler[500 runs]   after these 3 the next top scorer is   Sherfane Rutherford with 229 runs in 8 innings. BOON OR BANE: One can argue that why is their a problem... its good that the TOP 3 are scoring well but this can surely be a concern as the middle order has not had enough game time which is very important no matter how big a player you are. What would happen if they lose the TOP 3 quickly in the Playoffs is the biggest question in my mind. COULD HISTORY REPEAT?: As painful as it is to think about the CWC19 SF against NEW ZEALAND .... that match was a perfect example of how less game time and dependence on the TOP 3 can put a team in a pickle if they are out early. From 2017-2019,...
